This direction is focused on the design and development of smart and bio-inspired polymeric materials and medical devices, with an aim to effectively regenerate skeletal muscle tissue and treat vascular diseases. The smart materials are mainly shape memory polymers with high elastic modulus and strength, and the bio-inspired materials include synthetic and natural materials mimicking the chemical composition, biomechanics, topographical structure, or architecture of natual extracellular matrix.
